Hi all,
I would like to topfeed wheat bran to my worms and I don't know how to go about it. Should I put it on the bedding dry ? Should I let it soak first? If so how long should I let it soak? I read somewhere that we shouldn't give dry food to worms as it expand in their stomach and causing them some problems. Do you think it's true?

Hi Blue
I have top fed wheat bran and many ohter grains and powders wet and dry. or combined with all kinds of stuff. I think the secret is just dont over feed and you wont have problems . if it is a grain that may heat then just feed a corner. That is what I always do no matter what. I always leave them room to get away from any heat. I found thta some the of the grains wet would go moldy to fast or clump.

I would only top feed grains in my indoor bins, as it really generates heat quickly if it is buried. I just sprinkle it on top of the bedding, careful not to put over and inch, as it will crust over and take away from air. In my outdoor bins I bury it in pockets during winter, purposefully to make little furnaces for those bins. The worms stay warm and happily eat no matter how cold it gets.
