I keep my indoor bins in my sun porch. I also use the sunporch as a passive heat collector to heat my home in winter.
As I keep the room in the 70 to 80 degree range year round, I have been redesigning my plant storage to hanging shelves away from the outer walls and moving my harvested casting containers to the walls beneath the windows.
This way the dark castings can absorb more solar heat during the day to keep my worm bins warmer ,provide more of a lower heat layer to warm my decorative plants in winter storage and retain heat that can be pumped into my living quarters at night.
I think that the added mass of the stored castings should allow me to reduce the usage of my electric radiator heaters by at least 15 percent as I produce and store wormcast for use in seedling starts and gardening next spring.
