I am waiting patiently for my first harvest but almost there so whether or not I am new to worm farming is a question I cannot answer. However, I found one that I could.
I noticed that every time it rained I would find worms on the lid of my outside bin. I kept wondering why since their bin was correctly moist (ah that takes me back to flashbacks of the first week of vermiculture where I had to find what "just right" was). Anyway, I was reading up on worm diet and found a FAQ section. Guess what one of the hidden questions down on p. 3 was? The answer to my query revealed. And now with that setup out of the way, I give you the question and answer:

Q. It's raining and the worms seem to be gathering in the lid. What do I do?
A. What you are noticing is the worms sensitivity to pressure changes in the weather. They will often go up into the lid even before it rains. In nature, this takes them out of the soil to stop them flooding and drowning. Move the [you can make one for less money all by yourself] out of the rain.
