Microbes can produce methane. Many of us even construct methane digestor units capable of caputuring the methane to augment heating systems while predigesting wastes for their worm beds.
Now fossil fuel scientists are proposing use of microbe innocculation in the coal bed methane wells of Montana and Wyoming to increase and extend gas production in the wells.
